PRIDE is dynamic and growing not-for-profit organization that is fueled by the many diverse volunteers that support us in making a difference, while having fun and making new friends. Besides the annual Festival, PRIDE offers volunteer opportunities year-round at many community events and charitable causes. All our volunteer efforts are community minded and occur throughout Northern California's Silicon Valley. Below are just a few ways you can get involved with PRIDE.
If your employer offers a matching program for donations to nonprofit organizations, please let us know. GPCCSJ, Inc. will report to your employer how much you earned during the PRIDE Celebration as a volunteer. Please let us know in advance of any employer reporting requirements by sending an e-mail to volunteer@sanjosepride.com.
OUTREACH | In the Community
Participate in a variety of community events, information booths and service projects. Assist in promoting PRIDE visibility with community education and awareness efforts. Activities include reaching out to the underprivileged, elderly and youth. Efforts are done year-round, especially during the holidays.
PROGRAMS | Giving Back
PRIDE enjoys offering support to our community through strong partnerships with subject matter experts and social service organizations. Volunteers help administer programs that all members of the community can enjoy, complimentary when all possible. Current programs are:
- Ash Kickers Smoking Sensation Course, presented by Breathe California
- Protect-O-Packs (in bars, clubs and gathering spots), presented by Santa Clara County Public Health
EVENTS | Sharing PRIDE
With the help of passionate volunteers, PRIDE produces annual fundraisers and community events, large and small, for marketing and to support our organization’s mission. Helpers assist with development, planning, coordination, and execution of a variety of events, fundraisers or community socials.
INTERN | Learn While Helping
Help the community and get valuable skills by participating in high level work that helps with our mission of LGBTQ equality. Although we are not able pay our interns, we do offer community service with exposure to community connections and learn real world skills. Recruitment occurs continuously for enthusiastic students. We are currently looking to recruit in the following areas:

COMMITTEES | Get Involved
Community Outreach
Develops and implements organizations marketing plan that identifies the needs of its target audience. Promotes PRIDE’s mission and vision in the community through events, partnerships and support alliances, service clubs, and other like-minded entities.
Development
Oversees development and implementation of the fundraising plan. Develops leads, partnerships and fundraising campaigns for PRIDE, including fundraising activities, submission of grants, and acceptance of in-kind gifts. Seek out and secure funding or donors from an array of outside sources.
Special Events
Supports PRIDES outreach efforts by producing diverse social and formal events throughout the year, large and small. Events have a marketing or fundraiser component, or support other LGBT initiatives. Plans, organizes, coordinates and promotes events and activities to help enhance PRIDE.
Festival Planning
Committee members will brainstorm and provide recommendations to the Festival Director. Assists in the production of the annual Pride Festival held the third weekend in August. Provide suggestions to the Board of Directors. Assist with the coordination of operations, logistics, exhibitors, and ensure that the day of the Festival runs smoothly for everyone, a truly a rewarding experience.
Public Affairs
Represents the organization in the community; enhances the organization's image, including social media, website, newsletters, email marketing, branding standards, and communication to members of the media. Marketing, advertising, photography, videography, and graphic design are all members of this committee.
Volunteers
Recruit, train and manage PRIDE’s volunteers. Promote volunteer opportunities, coordinate duties and responsibility and enhance a volunteer’s experience. Maintain contact database and seek out opportunities to support the community with our volunteers. Ensure the safety of our volunteer environments and the potential risk of strain or injury is minimal.
